About this project

Hey there! My name is Julia Park and I'm a journalism major at the University of Washington, Seattle. This project is my final for COM 360: Foundations of Journalism and Public Interest Communication.

In reporting these four stories, I wanted to break down the complicated web of perspectives regarding public safety for students at UW. Safety for one student might look completely different for another, which poses challenges for the university as it is constrained to offer a set of resources that probably won't make everybody happy.

At the same time, safety is something that affects all of us, whether we're a minority or a majority, young or old, bold or cautious. And in the end, what we do to protect ourselves and others can make our campus community a better place for all.
